My dad got to meet Mr. Scott when he was an extra in one of his movies, To the Shores of Tripoli-1942. My dad was in the Marine Corps, stationed at San Diego at this time, and at the San Diego Marine Depot where the movie was filmed. No big part of course and you can't see him really, he was in one of the formations of Marines marching on the parade deck in a couple of the scenes, standing tall with the rest of his fellow Marines, and I always try to see if I can spot him each time I see the movie.
I too, pounded my feet for many hours on that same parade deck, about 23 years after the movie was made, and of course, our drill instuctors wern't quite as easy going as the charactor Randolph Scott played though, if you know what I mean.
